Location:  US-Natick, MA – 17 miles from Boston

Job Summary:

The Senior Data Warehouse Developer / Analyst is the implementation expert for our Data Warehouse group. He/she works with our analysts to understand the user needs and assist in the design of physical databases to support the requirements. He/she is the primary ETL developer, using ETL and SQL tools to transform source data into target data models. This role also provides secondary technical support for the BI environment.

Responsibilities:

  •  ETL programming: Understand the source data available and map sources to the target design using a variety of tools, but primarily using the ETL tool of choice (BusinessObjects Data Services, formerly Data Integrator).
  •  Works closely with the data warehouse team to translate functional/technical specifications and logical data models into working databases, including relational and dimensional (star-schema) designs. Design-related tasks will focus on logical and physical data models for the history-tracking data warehouse and related data marts.
  •  Works with the DW analyst and project teams to understand analysis and reporting requirements and ensures that their work product meets those user needs. Conducts ETL performance tuning, troubleshooting, support, and capacity estimation.
  •  Conducts thorough testing of ETL code changes to ensure quality of data produced.
  •  Assists in the support of the BI environment, including BusinessObjects and Crystal. May include technical support, team advising/support, as well as end-user support with understanding the data available in the warehouse and marts.
  •  Develops, adheres to, and is a proponent for Data Warehouse development standards, including ETL standards and best practices.

 

Qualifications:

  •  BS degree and 8+yrs of experience, or MS and equivalent professional work experience
  •  4+ years of experience coding and administrating an ETL tool such as BusinessObjects Data Integrator/Services (BODI), Informatica, or Ascential
  •  4+ years of experience with database modeling for the purpose of reporting, including relational and dimensional modeling exposure
  •  Expert SQL skills (Oracle PL/SQL or MS TSQL), including stored procedure programming
  •  Experience in systems analysis is required
  •  Foundational knowledge in Windows 2003/2008 Server, MS SQL Server tuning, MS Analysis Services, TCP/IP, and x86 hardware
  •  Prior experience with a BI tool (implementation, reporting, administration) such as OBIEE, Cognos, BusinessObjects, Brio, or Crystal is desirable
  • Prior experience with developing ETL standards is desirable
  • Data Quality and Profiling exposure is desirable
  • Basic project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
